On August 1, 16 young people began a new chapter in their lives at Fette Compacting in Schwarzenbek: they started their apprenticeships or dual study programs at the world’s leading manufacturer of integrated solutions for tablet production. After the first week, the company can look back on a successful and eventful start, focusing not only on technical skills but also on team spirit.

During the traditional introductory week, the new trainees and students not only gained their first professional experience but also immediately worked together on a joint project. Regardless of their specific career paths, they learned to operate technical equipment and acquired fundamental craftsmanship skills. “This practical project is emblematic of our training program: we combine cutting-edge technology with craftsmanship, while fostering collaboration and team spirit among our junior staff. From day one, we want them to feel that they play an important role in our company,” emphasizes Philipp Sierau, Director of Global HR at Fette Compacting. “We deliberately invest in training that extends far beyond technical expertise: it opens up new perspectives, instills values, and provides room for personal growth.”

For the first time, the closing event of the introductory week was held in a new format: the families of the new trainees and students were invited to experience their relatives’ workplace up close. In a relaxed setting at the heart of the training workshop, the young professionals showcased their new work environment and presented the results of their project work to their families. Guided tours and machine demonstrations offered additional insights into everyday life at the company. The young colleagues led the tours themselves, putting their newly acquired knowledge into practice right away.

Fette Compacting places great emphasis on practical training that fosters independent work from day one. With a diverse range of apprenticeships and degree programs, the company provides every talented individual with the opportunity to actively contribute and further develop their interests and skills. “The training of our junior staff is of great importance to us at Fette Compacting. In light of our strategic transformation from a machine manufacturer to a holistic process partner, dedicated young professionals are indispensable. They not only ensure our long-term competitiveness but also play an active role in shaping our ongoing transformation,” says Joachim Dittrich, CEO of Fette Compacting.us

A particular highlight this year is the launch of a new dual degree program in process engineering, offered in collaboration with the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW). This year, Fette Compacting is welcoming its first student in this field. “Process engineering is a key element of our focus as a holistic process partner, as our range of services now extends far beyond mechanical engineering. We support our customers from powder formulation all the way through to ongoing production,” Dittrich adds.

Immediately after the introductory week, the new colleagues will embark on the “Culture Journey” – an intensive workshop designed to immerse them in Fette Compacting’s values and purpose. CFO Anke Fischer explains: “It is essential to us that our corporate values – passion, integrity, appreciation, and optimism for the future – are not merely theoretical concepts, but are lived and experienced every day. This is exactly what defines us as an employer and makes our corporate culture so unique.”

Fette Compacting currently employs a total of 71 trainees and students at its Schwarzenbek site, with a retention rate of nearly 100 percent after completion of training. Anyone interested in a future-oriented and diverse training program can find more information on the company’s Careers website.
